SALE AT CHRISTCHURCH. DEMAND FOR GOOD LINES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The fourth Christchurch wool cal< commenced this morning. The offering was 21,784 bales, compared with 20,692 st the last sale a month ago, but up to the adjournment to-night at eleven o’clock half of the Jots offered were passed in. The range of prices so far is: Super merino 14d to 20d, medium merino 12d to 14d, super half bred 14d to 16%d, medium halfbred 9|S to 13d, inferior halfbred 8d to 9£d, super three-quarter bred fid to lid, medium three-quarter bred 7d to B%d, inferior three-quarter bred 4d to 6|d, super crossbred 7d to 10d. medium crossbred 5d to 7d, inferior crossbred 3d to sd, best halfbred pieces fid to 12gd, medium halfbred pieces 5d to Bd, crossbred pieces 3%d to fid, lodes 2d to 4d. There was a full bench of buyers and competition was keen for all good lines l merino especially meeting with keen competition from Continental buyers local mills. Best halfbreds were keenly sought after, as also were good light crossbreds, but wasty and inferior wools won very little animation. Bidding was most irregular all through the salt* especially for inferior crossbred.
Taken all round the sale kidicates a firm market for well-grown merino and halfbreds, with a falling tendency oi from Id to 2d on all inferior lines. Thi sale will be continued to-morrow.
