DECLINE OF BRITISH EXPORTS.
I j AFFECTS DOMINION TRADE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyrijht. Received Nov. 17, 8.5 p.m. London Nov. IG. The Tariff Commission, in a memorandum dealing with the quantities rather than the values of British exports, emphasise the decline compared with before the war. Mr. Stanley Machin. president of the London Chamber of Commerce, interviewed, said the shrinkage affected both the. Dominions' and foreign trade. The prohibition of shipments of gold from Australia created an unfortunate state of affairs in the Anglo-Australivii martret, and had the effect of holding up an enormous number of Australian orders. If the present conditions were not remedied early they would seriously injure Australian trade.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
