DRIED MILK INDUSTRY.
WAIIAROA FACTORY OPENED. Morrinsville, Sept. 24. The new dried milk factory at Waharoa was opened by Mr. J. R. Fow, Mayor of Hamilton, yesterday. There was an attendance of about a thousand, including visitors from Hamilton, Te Aroba, Waitoa, Morrinsville, Cambridge, and Paeroa. The Waharoa, factory has been built by the Zealandia Milk Foods, Ltd.,,which is a subsidiary companj- to tl!e ' New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, fitrt., of Hamilton. Mr. Goodfellow, in the course of an address, paid the factory was the first co-operative dried milk factory to be built in the world. The speaker described the history of dried milk powder, and. he Estimated that the suppliers would receive 2s Gd per lb for butterfat for the. next four years, after deducting 6d per lb for two years so as to pay the cost of the building. Messrs C. Motion, S. W. Smythc, and .T Clark also addressed the gathering, after which Mr. Fow formally declared the factory open. The factory was thrown open for inspection, and the method of working was fully explained by members of the staff. ; The visitors were entertained to lunch, and in the evening an enjoyable social was held in the Waharoa Hall.
