SENTENCES BY! COURT-MARTIAL. By Telegraph.—Pres3 Asan.—CoDyrljht. ' Paris, Sept. 27. Brutalities committed by German officers during the occupation of Lille have been the subject of investigation by a French court-martial, which imposed heavy sentences, despite the fact that the accused men kept out of the jurisdiction of the court. _ A lieutenant was sentenced to life imprisonment for desecrating graves, Committing thefts, and imprisoning a girl who repeatedly rejected his ad- ! vancas. Another was sentenced to five years in prison for killing a priest apd throwing his body into a coal-hole. A i major received a similar term for flc>gging old men and women, while terms j of two to twenty years' imprisonment I each were imposed for robbery in several | other cases.—Reuter Service."
