AUCKLAND'S SERIOUS PLIGHT. INDUSTRY DISORGANISED. By T»l«iraph.—Press Aisoclatloa. t Auckland, Last Night. The present indications are that the tramway stoppage will last from 10 to 14 days. The Gas Company notifies that coal stocks are almost exhausted and that the supply of g as Will cease at 9 p.m. on Thursday until further coal supplies Aucklanders were favored with fine weather for the second day of the tram stoppage. A serions disorganisation of indus' y and unemployment for many workers is imminent as a result of the gas company's notification that the supply of gas will cease on Thursday; night. Practically every industry will be more or less affected, save those in which machinery is electrically driven. By the end of the week most of the. workers in the clothing factories and in many others will be in a state of enforced idlecess, and will remain so until the gas supply is restored. Hot meals will also disappear from restaurants. Adding to these troubles the complete stoppage of the tram service, it must be admitted that Auckland is faring badly as a result of the coal mine dispute.
