PERSONAL.
The death has occurred at the Auckland Hospital of Mr, Edward Johnson, a veteran of the Maori wars. Mr. Johnson was born in Dublin in 1837, coming out to Hew Zealand in 185!). He worked for three years in the Waikato district as a liushnian, and joined the First Waikato Regiment on the outbreak of the Maori War. He went through a great part of the campaign, later volunteering for service in Taranaki, where he remained until the end of the war.
