CRICKET.
VISIT OF ENGLISH TEAM, INVITATION FROM TARANAKI. . At a representative meeting of delegates to the Nortli Tarauaki Crickot Association held last evening, it was decided that an invitation be extended to. the English amateur team- to visit Tarauaki during the Dominion tuur, provided ono or the playing days be either a Thursday or Saturday. The guarantee is practically assured, and sub-committees were set up to arrange the details of the visit. The team is expected towards the end of January. PROPOSAL NOT FAVORED. ACTION BY POVERTY BAY. At a public meeting called by the Poverty Bay Cricket Association to discuss the proposal to give a guarantee of £3OO towards a New Zealand tour of an English amateur cricket team, the scheme was turned down, the general opinion being that the game in the district could be better advanced by applying the money to the improvement of local nrounds. MANAIA CLUB. At the annual meeting of the Manaia Crickot Club, Mr. R. Hughes presided. The. report and balance-sheet was submitted, and showed a credit of £6 4s 6d. The election ■of officers resulted: Patron, Mr. J. Deaqon; president, Mr. R. Hughes; vice-pre-sidents, Messrs. H. Mclvor, J. S. McKay, A. (3. Bennett, A. 11. Christie, C.' Kirk, E. Masspy, C. Powell, W. Vivian, and Dr. Maunsell; Secretary, Mr. T. Miller; captain, to be •sleeted on the field; .selection committee, Dr. Maunsell and' Mr. A. Hughes; general committee, Messrs. Cosgrove, A. Hughes, Mclvor, Badley, and Hobday; ground committee, Messrs T. Miller and V. H. Hobday; delegates to the Union, Messrs. Richard Hughes and T. Miller; umpire, Mr. R. Hughes.*
