OBDEB QV SHIP'S HREMEN, VBSBEL HELD UP. OHristchurch, Last Night The Moana w ready to sail from Lyttelton for Wellington at BJO p.m., but the- firemen refused, to go to eea unless the drier cook was dismissed. It appears some of the firemen went to board the vessel after 6 p-m. and expected to.get their tea. The chief cook, however, refused to allow them to be served, as the tea hour was five o'clock. The captain was then informed by the firemen that they would not sail with the chief cook on board. The secretary of the Lyttelton branch of the Seamen's Union was summoned, and also •the Lyttelton manager of the Union Company and the company's marine superintendent, and a conference was on board. It was, pointed out that the cook could not he summarily dismissed, as he was v «itHted to' 24 hours' notice.
