A police patrol at Abbeyfeal shot dead two civilians for running away when challenged. Sergeant McGuire was shot and wounded at Enerbane while the police were searching his house for arms. Armed and disguised men wrecked several shops in Carrick-on-Shannon. They entered houses, dragged young men from their beds, paraded them in the streets, and compelled them to take an oath to discontinue the boycott of the police.
