WORK AT THE PORT.
RAIN CAUSES STOPPAGE. SUMU'S SAILING ALTERED. . Work was commenced as usual yesterday morning by the watersidera at the port of New Plymouth, but owing to the rain ' operations were discontinued and were not resumed during the day. The Rimu arrived on her usual trip from Onehunga with 110 tons of cargo. Owing t.o the cessation in discharging the ship does not sail for Onehunga until 4.15 this afternoon. -In consequence of this delay the Rimu will be a diy behind the usual schedule on the next trip. She will leave Onehunga on Friday, arriving at New Plymouth ott Saturday; morning, and returning north in the afternoon. • An arrival from the spilth yesterday was the Flora, which reached port at 4.10 p.m., bringing 900 tons of getieral .cargo. This includcß transhipment* ex the Leitrim and Ayrshire, from England, Moeraki and Moana from Sydney, and Westralia • from Melbourne. Weather permitting discharge will .be commenced this morning. On completion the vessel proceeds to Wellington,* and thenae to Picton to load for Onohunga. The C. and D. liner Port Pirie is due from Australia to-morrow afternoon to load produce for London. From New Plymouth the ship goes to Wellington. On Friday the Corinna is duo from southern ports with general cargo. Details of her cargo are not available, beyond the fact that there is a consign 7 ment of 280 tons from Oamaru. With direct shipments from England' the MamaVi is due at Port Chalmers to-morrow. Bhe was expected, to reach New Plymouth on October 4, but as she will be about three days* late at Port Chalmers the date of her. arrival here may be delayed by a similar period.
