COW-TESTING RETURNS. AT KAPONGA DAIRY FACTORY The returns for the Kaponga CowTesting Association for the 1319-20 season give the Association average herd at 228 431b., fat for 21fi days. The average cow was 235.261bs fat for 223 days.; The highest herd average was 317.6314s m 255 days, and the lowest 117.941bs iri J2B days. The highest individual cow made 473 971bs of fat in 270 days, and the lowest 53.081hs in 129 days-- Mr. D. Malone secured the highest average in the Association with 317.031bs in 200 days with 39 cows. Mr. K. Rotlie, with 300.881b8 in 274 days with 32 cows, was yeeond. Mr. R. ]>. Dagg, with 293.421 bs in 2<S3 days, with 37 cows, was third; and Mr. A. Schumacher, with 292.721bs in, 273 days, was fourth. Amongst Mr. Malone's 'individual cows Peggy's Mahoe, by Pesrgv's Campanile—Mahoe. was the'leader, lie'r actual record being 544.08 lbs fat. S339.(ilbs milk in 305 days. Then came Pea Blossom (Peggy's Campanile —Passion Flower), with 445.091b fat in «93 davs. Pansv, a grade, made 413.72 lbs in 270 days," and Jenny's Princess Maid 401.77 ibs in 254 days. Rose's Speck has just completed her test as a 3-year-old and made 598.101b fat and 10047.21b milk in 305 days. She was, however, awarded only a second-class certificate, as she calved twelve days late. Her daughter, Cloverlea Speck, is now under semi-official test. Snow View's Maid, at 2 years of age, made 35iilllb fat in 334 days. She is the of K.C.B. These " records were made at Mr. Malone's recent farm at Riverlea, at an altitude of nearly 1800 feet above sea level. They were made under purely herd conditions —no crushed oats, nor even carrots or mangolds. Thcv had, however, the best of grass and soft turnips. Mr. Malone has recentlv removed to Palmer Road, and has added to his already fine herd the c6w Illusion, bred by Mr. F. W. Cornwall, of Bell Block. She is by Snow Shower, descended from Jenny I. awl 11., out of Rosalind's Girl, who has 3 lot of Campanile and KC.B. blood. SiM! has this year given birth to a bull ' calf by Holly Bank Squire, and is milking splendidly. Her record for her first 14 days was 281bs fat,—Star.
