SAMOA MANDATE.
AN ALLEGED PETITION. TO TRANSFER TO BRITAIN. By Telegraph.—p rBS3 Aasn.—Copjrlcht. Sydney, Sept. 20. Mr. Jolin Sandes, the special Australasian correspondent on board the Renown, writing from Apia on August 29, mentions that both the natives and the white population are disappointed over ttie operation of New Zealand's mandate for Samoa. He states that he wa9 informed that the natives were engaged preparing a petition imploring that Samoa should be withdrawn from the control of New Zealand and placed under the control of Britain.—Aus.-N.Z.
