NEW PLYMOUTH HIGH SCHOOLS.

MEETING. OF THE HOARD. The monthly meeting of the New Plymouth High Schools Board of Governors was held last night. Present: Messrs. L. E. Sladden (chairman), J. S. Fox, A. E. Washer, L. A. Nolan, F. W. Atkinson, and H. 'Trimble. In regaM to an application from the principal of the Boys' High School for something to be done to improve the state of the roads and footpaths in the school grounds, it was decided to leave the matter in the hands of the chairman and Mr. Washer with power to act. Miss J. R. Barr, principal of the Girls' High School, reported that the school opened for the '3rd term on September 15. At the end of last terra five pupils left the school, and at the beginning of the present term six new pupils enrolled. The pupils now ■ attending the school number: Secondary school, 129; primary school, 49; a total of 178, 52 of whom n ■ boarders. It was resolved to congratulate Miss ■Hurle on the winning of the Earl of Meath Cup for an essay on the League of Nations.
