SUGAR STRIKERS RETURN.
SERVICES OF SOME REJECTED. "NOT A FAffi DEAL," By Telegraph.—Fresj Association, N Auckland, Last Night. In accordance with their decision, the members of the Sugar Workers' Union offered themselves for employment at the Chelsea sugar Tefming works tliis morning, and with the exception of fourteen were re-instated. The rejection of this number came as a surprise to the men, for at the maximum they did not expect more -than three to be turned down. The men travelled from the city pcross the harbor in two boats, in company with new applicants for work in the industry. . Of the latter six travelled on one boat along with a prominent member of the Union, with the result that before they reached their destination they had decided not to seek ths work they had set out to obtain, and adhered to that decision. The secretary stated, however, that the new hands had been taken on at the wirks. He did not consider the men had received "a fair deal," and he jisserted that the Union "would not sit [down to it." A meeting would probl ably be called to consider the matter.
