VISIT OF J. H. KIRKWOOD. TWO EXHIBITION ROUNDS. .1. H. Klrkwood, the open golf champion of Australasia, who last week won the open championship of New Zealand, will play two exhibition rounds on the New Plymouth Club's links at Waiwakaiho on Thursday. It was hoped to arrange for a New Zealand professional to play Kirkwood, but as this cannot be done, matches will be arranged against Taranakl's best players. The first match will commence at 10 a.m., and tte second game will start at 2 p.m. This opportunity of seeing the leading golfer of Australasia should appeal to followers of tho game throughout Tnranaki, and fuller details will be found in an advertisement elsewhere. NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. Last Tuesday the ladies of the New Plymouth Club played a medal match for a prize donated by Miss Goldwnter. The following were the best scores:— Miss L. Thomson m 23 S8 Mrs. Burke 123 33 90 Miss Stanford 101 l 18 91 Miss Rundle 102 10 92 Miss Bremmer 129 35 94 STRATFORD CHAMPIONSHIP.
The semi-final of the Stratford Golf Club's men's championship was played on Saturday, P. Wright beating .1. F. Ritchie at the 18th hole by a putt. The final will be plaved between Wright and Christie.
