PEDIGREE JERSEY SALES.
The cult of the Jersey is the predominating influence among dairymen throughout Taranalii at the present time, and the best breeders of this class of cattle bring figures to bear on the argument In support of their fancy. It does not matter what individual cows or other breeds have done in regard to the production of butter-fat, thoy say, but money talks tho language all like to read and that is on the monthly cheques, which they'claim are biggest where the Jersey ih.ilks. The South Taranaki Jersey breeders, as appear on the catalogue of a sale to be held at Kapongn on the 22nd inst., have instructed Newton King, Ltd., to offer the public the choice of some of the. classiest of their herds, all of which havo herd-book reputations and tuany have proved merit behind them as a basis for the foundation of leading herds in the future. It is quite certain that hundreds of pounds will be paid for the twenty-two pedigree heifers and sixty-eight pedigree bulls to be paraded. It is no "cull" sale iu any sense of the word, but with the object of popularising the breed and proving tho' v;\lue of first-clnss stutf to the average farmer, an annual public auction is being Inaugurated. Tha animals to be .offered claim as their sires K.C.8., Majesty's Pox, Eminent's Fontaine, Koherts, l'btune's Noble, Campanile Sultan, Charm's Lord Twyllsh, Soumlse Majesty, and (loddlngton, while the breeders' names are sufficient guarantee of quality from the point of view of show awards.
