MARANATHA.
(Ouv Lord Cometh) ! TT is a sad tiling that so many of \ those who ocenpy the moat influential positions in our colleges and universities are propagating as proved scientific facts the evolutionary theory of the origin of mail, and the propositions of the Biblical scholars known as the higher critics. Of the former it need only he said that however widely this theory has won acceptance it still remains an improved hypothesis; while of the latter, many able writers have shown that the reasonings of the higher critics are utterly incapable of historic proof, add their whole structure rests upon the sandiest of foundations. There is good cause to suspect that the. Society of Jesuits are the chief, though unrecognised, authors of these thinly-veiled attacks upon the credibility and inspiration of the Holy Scriptures. On the other hand, the "Impregnable Rock of . Holy Scripture" has firmly withstood the attacks of all ages. The Rev. Prof. VV. H. Griffiths Thomas, | D.D., has recently written; "We have yet to And any real statement of history in the Bible that has heen found to be unhistorical." We challenge contradiction by stating further that neither has science disproved any plain statement in the Bible. But these deadly attacks against the authority of the Word of God have produced in the minds <jf many a growing unbelief and atheism; and atheism' is the root principle of anarchy and revolution, It engenders a fierce revolt against God, the utter rejection of all belief in Him, and of all His commands and precepts. The outcome of this atheism i 9 seen in the ruthless murders, robberies, and contempt of every law—the hatred of all religion and those who profess it —by the Bolsheviks of Europe, who are in a state of open war and rebellion against God. It is all a foreshadow of the coming fulfilment of the Second Psalm, "The kings of the earth set themselves, "and the rulers take counsel together against the Lord, and against HIS ANOINTED j (Christ), saying, Let us break their j bonds asunder, and east away their cords from us."
