The Matin publishes a conversation between a high French personage and the King of Spain, in which the* latter in March, 1917, said' that the German intention early in 1017 was to march upon Petrograd and Odessa and then, with the aid of Greece, smash General Sarrail's army at Salonika, after which Austria Would fall upon Italy. Germany's next move was to violate Swiss neutrality and make a dash on Lyons. The King predicted the defeat of the Central Powers, though he dni not believe they w&uld be definitely crushed. He criticised the want of forethought and egotism of British Government, which at the time had not'placed three million men in the field. Italy, also, had not inflicted a blow commensurate with her strength. The French Government and Mr. Lloyd George were notified of the conversation.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn,
