RACEHORSE BREAKS DOWN. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Brisbane, June 10. The racehorse Bunting has broken down and Is unlikely to race again. THE AUCKLAND MEETING. NOTES ON WEDNESDAY'S RACES. (By Telegraph.—Special to News.) Pine weather again favored, the Auckland Racing Club for the Ilnal day's racing, though the going was sodden and against last times. Oalileigh, wiio scored in the Maiden Steeplechase on the opening day, was selected as the goods over Totara Jack and Monopoie In the Tamakl Steeplechase, and never looted like getting beaten, always being In rront. Ho knew the country better than the opposition, which aided him. Monopoie was racing second into the straight, but tired, and John Bunny, who may seo a better day, came along and scored second place. ' Deviation, who fell when ln*thc lead on the middle day was another favorite to win. He got to tho front in the Orakei Hurdles and defeated a strong effort from Kereono over the business end. Keystone fell at the last fence when close up to the leaders. Several of the competitors fell, which aided Mary Bruce into third place, with Ma Copper fourth. Golden Petal- was one of the quiet tips that fell. The win of Deviation wa3 long overdue.

After lila two fast, finishing efforts in shorter distance events at the meeting, Hyllus, with Gray on top, was considered the goods for the York Welter, and lie duly won, but only as a result of a sucerb exhibition on' the part of Gray, who fairly lifted the favorite past Arran in the last few strides. Hyllus was in a bad position in the middle stages, but he got a nice run near the rails in the straight. Arran looked a certainty when ho gained the advantage from Trespass at the home turn, but Hyllus got there by a head, with Gold Kip, who should be a safe Investment at southern meetings, third, and Demoiselle fourth. The weight stopped Parisian Diamond. Penona, who failed In hack events at Hawera and Wanganui, was well in the struggle with the leaders inside the distance, and is a better mare aj home than when away. After his form on opening day, Slow Coach was made a vtaren proposition for the Winter Steeplechase, and duly landed the goods. He was handy to the leaders, Peneton and First Call, in the first round, and then lost liis position. After this Omahu ran to the front down the back, and led over the hill the fast time. The Bulls horse was being proclaimed as they raced down the hill, but when the straight was fairy entered, Slow Coach got up handy again, and he wore Omahu down and won by a length, with First .Call a fair third, Old Mimglndl being next.' Peneton was pulled up on account of injury to young Turner. The winner was ridden by Pending, who scored on boohella, the double. Gladful was withdrawn owing to being slightly amiss. Omahu gave a good display as a steeplechase aspirant, and over flat country may be looked for to loom up later on.

Mill o' fiowrie, who was purchased by Mr. Kcinball the day before, wag another favorite to score In the Campbell Hurdles, She never looked Ike suffering defeat, being always in front, and finally defeated the best efforts of Thrace by three lengths and a half. Ore Ore (from Hawke's Bay) carried a surprising amount of support, but could only get third, while Cynlo and Pendoon finished in behind. Gluetauua fell before entering on the last round, and his rider (Warner) suffered a fractured collarbone. The first favorite to let his supporters down Was King Abbey, In the Visitors' Handicap. He was up handy at one stage, but Ring liiipln was the leader. Inside the home turn, however, he failed over the last furlong, when the field closed on him, the consistent Tamaroa finally rushing past the post full of running from one of the outsiders, Bmerald Hill, with Asteiina close, up just in front of Crowhurst. Golden Bubble, who raced in the interests of a local sportsman, never threatened to take out the money, while Prince Charlerol, who had been sprinting well on the tracks, did not get away well enough to suit his prospects. The result of the Fitzroy Welter proved that Royal Abbey was a class above the ordinary hacks, for with 12..1 against, him, on a sodden track lie had the race won round the home turn. This was his third win at the meeting. The son of Quin Abbey was under ofTer to' Air. Komball yesterday at about 800 guineas, but failing to pass the veterinary he remains In Hannon's stable and will go on winning so long as his tendons stand. An outsider In Nunerrant was second, while Tulpa was doing his best in third place. Neither Karcao nor Sir Fanciful, the visiting hacks, gave any real trouble to the placed division in the concluding stages.
