Received April 20, 5.5 p.m. m, London, April 25. 1 lie annual meeting of the Association of British Chambers of Commerce adopted resolutions deploring the detention of shipping at ports, and asking for an investigation with a view to the application of remedies, and favoring a cessation of direct Government control at tht earliest moment.

The meeting adopted a resolution declaring the principle of war wealth taxation unfair and impracticable, and urging >the need for a gradual reduction in the national debt by the taxation of current profits and current income, amV not by the confiscation of capital, which was essential to the maintenance and development of industry.
A further resolution approved the Governmpnt legislating to ensure that whenever a ballot or referendum is used in industrial.disputes the voting should be conducted with the same secrecy as in Parliamentary Sttvie#.
