A special meeting of the Trades Union Congress assembled to consider action to compel the adoption of nationalisation of mines. ' Mr- J. H. Thomas, M.P. (General Secretary of the National Union of Raihvaymen) presided, and delegates representing over five million workers were present. On a card vote a policy of direct action was rejected by 3,870,000 votes to 1 ,'050,000 votes. ' Subsequently it was decided by 3,732,000 votes to 1,015,000 to continue poltical action,—Aus.N.Z. RANK AND FILE TALK STRIKE. SOVIETS IN BRITAIN FAVORED. Received March 13, 12.10 a.m. London, March 11. A meeting of a rank and file convention organised by the shop stewards resolved in favor of a general strike for th'j nationalisation of the mines. It further resolved in favor of the creation of Soviets in Britain. In this connection delegates are meeting on the /12th inst. to establish Soviets in various parts of the country. —United Service.
