DISTRICT NEWS.
NORFOLK ROAD, (From Our Own Correspondent.) At the meeting of the School Committee held in the Norfolk Road school on Tuesday last, when all the members were present, and after the minutes of the previous Meeting had been confirmed, it was resolved: "That tills committee Join with the Inglewood and other school committees of the district to make the annual school picnic to the beach a success, and to hold the same on or about the 26th February next." On learning that Mrs Wagstaff, wife of the recently appointed head teacher, Mr. Wag!!!?"'«y as wlUin S to act as postmistress, as Mrs Thomas, her predecessor, had done, it was decided to try to get the Miro post office re-opened, and Messrs W. Corney, E. Gibbs and A. Laurence were deputed to wait on the Inglewood postmaster for that purpose. As a precaution against lnfeetlon, and with a view to securing the sound sanitary condition of tlie school, the committee resolved to get a spray pump, for spraying the celling and walks of the school, before it re-opens .next imonth. • The deputation above teaited on thej postmaster at Inglowoijd Wfjßnqsdßy, 21st inst., and lie undertook to. iftTjfcard their request to the Chief Postmast.wat New Plymouth at once. It Is reported that Mr. P. J. Carter, of Auckland, one of the .Moa Block's early settlers, and erstwhile well and popularly known as a willing helper at all locrl entertainments and as "Bones", when burnt cork was the order of the evening, has sold the small property and dwelling which he so long retained at tlie Durham Koid corner, thus severing his connection with the Moa. The purchaser is Mr. "David Brown, who some little time ago bought Mrs Brldgeman's property adjoining.
