The Mexico City correspondent of the New York Times says that an area of ninety thousand square miles in the State of Vera Cruz has been ruined by the earthquakes. Rivers have disappeared, grazing lands have been ruined, herds destroyed, and villages wiped out. Thousands of persons are injured and homeless. Disease epidemics are feared owing to contaminated watercourses. The total deaths are now estimated at three thousand.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
