CARRIED GERMS FOR 37 YEARS.
How a typhoid carrier (a person who lias the germ always in his body but does not suffer irom the disease) spread typhoid fever' for .'l7 years while quite well himself, is described by Dr. S. T. (hamptaloup in the British "Medical •Journal. In ISSI the man had typhoid fever, and the record of his disease distribution is as follows:—Shortly after his recovery he was one of a party of shearers among whom 13 cases of typhoid occurred, several dying. Two years later, while shearing again, three of his workmates got the disease. Three years after this he gave typhoid to the cook and several fellow-shearers. Two years later he infected one fellow-work-er. "His last association with the disease," says Dr. Champtaloup, "was in 11)18, when a man came to the farm, occupied the old man's room, and shared his meals. This man caught typhoid fever, and in investigating'the ease the doctor discovered the carrier. The car. rier was a hale, sturdy old man, and had always been remarkably well."
