LAND, BUILDING AND INVESTMENT SOCIETY.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Taranaki Land, Building, and Investment Society (Permanent) was held on Monday evening, Mr. R. Cock (chairman of directors) presiding.
The report and balance sheet as printed and circulated among members *vas adopted.
The chairman moved the adoption of the report, and pointed out that a member borrowing £SOO in the series just matured would pay interest slightly in excess of 41 per cent. Mr. Cock further pointed out that the society charged no procuration fee and paid all costs of preparing and registering mortgages for sums of £IOO and over. He referred with satisfaction to the increased volume of business during the year, and commented upon the smallness of the arrears account. Mr. A.t Goldwater was re-elected a director, and Mr. W. H. Skinner was elected a director in place of Colonel Ellis, who was not seeking re-election. Mr. Hugh Baily was re-appointed auditor. A vote of thanks was accorded to the directors, and they were voted the usual honorarium. General satisfaction was expressed at the manner in which the directors had managed the affairs of the society.
