EAST END RESERVE.

ANNUAL MEETING OF COMMITTEE. ! The annual meeting of the East End Reserve Committee was held in the pavilion last night, there being about j 12 present. Mr. W- Hardgreaves presided, the chairman (Mr. W. P. Nicoll) being unable to attend. Several other apologies for absence were received i Mr. W. A. Collis, as chairman of the Borough Council Reserves Committee, was present at the meeting. THE ANNUAL REIPORT. The report stated that the year had ween one of steady progress, notwithstanding the influenza epidemic which had interfered with all pleasure resorts in the early part of last .st-jumer, m. connection with which the pavilion was u?ed as a temporary convalescent hospital. It was strongly recommended' t.';at the policy of employing a caretaker should be continued, the ev, perience during the past year being regarded as quite exceptional, and under normal condi tiohs the appointment should result in the improved upkeep of the Reserve, and in a better financial position. Pleasure was erpvewed a t the tofurn from active service of many active helpers of the committee. The financial position was considered better than the previous year. The credit balance was about equal to last year's, but some of the liabilities hart been paid off and no further liabilities incurred. Socials, dances, and picnics had been the chief source of revenue, and had also provided a healthy and enjoyable form of amusement for both adults and children Assistance had been given to the Citizen's Band, the Elliot. fund, and also to the two members of the Committee Who had met With accidents. Appreciation wa3 ex. pressed of the services rende.'cd bv those who had helped the committer in its activities during the year. Th* tot:it receipts for the year, including * balance of £lll4 10s 4d from the previous year, were £597 14s 4d, and the payments £4S3 14s 7d, the credit balance being £ll3 13s 9d The adoption of the report anl bal-ance-sheet was moved by Mr A. Roberts, seconded by Mr. S. Hooper, and carried. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. Some complaint was made that in arranging the municipal band concerts insufficient provision was made for eoncerts to be given in the East End pavilion, and it was decided to approach the band to see if some arrangement could not be made for more recitals at the reserve. Votes of thanks were passed to those who had assisted the commits during the year, especially to the Indies' committee, to the custodian, and to the Press.
