The Marsden seat will, in all probability be contested by Lieutenant-Colonel Maekesy, C.M.G., C.8.E., D.5.0., who returned by the Remuera. In an interview he stated he had tiecided that were, it not too late, he would stand in the interests of returned soldiers. He would probably he a'sup- ( porter of the Liberal Party! THE STRATFORD SEAT. On Friday night Mr Masters (LiberalLabor candidate) addressed the settlers at Dudley Road, the schoolroom being packed. Mr. Hodges was voted to the chair, and briefly introduced the candidate. Mr. Masters spoke for two hours on similar lines to those addresses already given in various parts of the electorate. At the conclusion of the address, the candidate was kept busy for some time replying to questions. On the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr. D. Todd, a hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr. Masters by acclamation for his able and instructive address. ' EGMONT SEAT. MR. HUGHES RETIRES. At a meeting of delegates from all parts of the Egmont electorate on Friday evening Mr. D. L. A.. Astbury was ■ chosen as the Liberal candidate. Under these circumstances Mr. D. J. Hughes 1 has withdrawn from the contest.
