THE MINERS' STRIKE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Washington, Oct. 23. The miners rejected the compromise proposals made by Mr. William IS. Wilson (Secretary for Labor) for the settlement of the coal strike. At the request of President Wilson the delegates representing the public will remain at the Industrial Conference to seek a solution of the industrial problems. The employers' delegates have been excused from further attendances. — Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. Received Oct. 20, 11.5 p.m. New York, October 25. A message from Washington reports that the operators consent to the request of Mr W. B. Wilson (Secretary for Labor) to confer with a view to a settlement of the coal dispute, but the miners refused.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
