INGLEWOOD.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) ' The Mayor, Mr. J. Sutherland, is on a business visit to Auckland. The many friends of Mr. W. Rees, who i was injured in the recent motor accident at Rugby Road, will be pleased to learn tiiat he is making a good recovery at "the New Plymouth hospital. Sheep fanners around here have experienced a record lambing season, the percentage being exceptionally high. The manager of the Moa Dairy Company anticipates a record year. New suppliers have joined up, whilst casein plants are to be erected at Dudley Road and Norfolk Road, and, when finished, all the branch factories will be able to extract their own casein, a commodity that has a great future. Daffodil Day was celebrated at the Town Hall on a recent afternoon, a haby show, held'under the auspices of the Plunket Nurse Association, creating a great deal of interest. There was a good attendance, and the decorations were greatly admired. The entries for the competition were numerous, and the judge. Nurse Williams, experienced some difficulty in selecting the winners. The proceedings were opened by the Deputy Mayor, Mr. Fawcett. Mrs. A. Lile had charge of the afternoon tea arrangements, and, with willing assistants, adequately catered for the wants of all. The yellow stall, where the narcissi were, looking very effective, was presided over by Mesdamcs Grant, Partridge, and Yarndley; and the blue stall, where the favorite magnolia predominated, was in the charge of Mesdames Horner, Darlow, Armstrong, and Kidd. The sweet stall was conducted by Mesdames Farquhar and Robb, and was in great demand, all the contents being soon sold. Miss N. O'Carrol had charge of the guessing competition, and did good business. The whole proceedings were a great success, and the energetic band of workers are to be complimented on their efforts. The results of the competitions were announced by the Rev. Stanton and the prizes were presented by the Mayoress. The following arc the names of the winners:—Giri3 over one year, Joyce Petch and Mary Giles; girls under one year, Tui Broadmore and Tui ldeenan; girls under six months, Clarice Beaueock and Peggy Marchall. Boys under one year, David Shaw and Clement Carey; boys over one year, Baldy Yarndley and Qlydo Geddis. Special prizes were donated by Mrs. Thackeray, Nurse Williams, the Mayor, Mr. W. Eagar, and Mrs. Robb. All Inglewood residents will be pleased to welcome Mr. T. A. B. Bailey, S.M., to this part of the district. He was Inglewood's first resident solicitor. i Mr. F. Clair, contractor, Waitara, is busy removing the building in Rata Street to make room for the new premises of the Farmers' Co-operative Association, which will shortly be in course of erection. Capt. Lan Grant has joined Mv. Paterson, barrister and solicitor. ' Mr. W. Hogg, who before proceeding to the front acted as Messrs Borthwiek's stock representative here, is spending .a few weeks in Inglewood renewing old acquaintances. He expects to enter harness again shortly as buyer for his old firm, and it is quite probable that he will be posted to another district.
