BURNSIDE MARKET. Dunedin, July 30. There was a medium yarding of fat cattle at Burnslde market to-day, one hundred and fiftyfive being penned,. mostly of prime , quality. Prices. opened at about £2 below last week's rates, and gradually receded 10s more. NEWTON KING'S REPORT, Mr. Newton King reporis as under: At Waiwakaiho ■on 25th inst. I had a good yarding of store cattle, every pen of which changed hands at the hammer at advanced prlcts. In the dairy section I offered dairy herds on account of Messrs F. J. Cowling, c Colson and J. Robinson. Buyers attended in big numbers, bidding being very keen throughout with the exception of the registered Shorthorns whicli were harder of tsale, but everything else sold well. Yearling hoifers, £1 18s to £3 lis; yearling steers, £2 0s to £3; mixed yearlings, £3 Is; 20-month steers, mostly colored, £4 6s to £5 15s; 20-month empty heifers, small, £4 to £5 14s; store cows, £5 5s to £7 12s Cd; bulls, £7 to £lO 10s. Mr Cowling's herd, which comprised mostly registered Shorthorn cattle, sold from 10 to 18gns; 2 and 3-year-old heifers, 9 to 18gns; grade Shorthorn cows, £ll 10s to £2O 10s. Mr Colson's herd contained some nice grade Jerseys, all milking sorts, these selling from £2O to £27; other sorts made from £l4 10s to £l9 10s; late calvers, £9 to £l2. On account of the same vendor sows made froni £4 to £10; farm horses, £8 to £26. The cows in Mr Robinson's herd were on the aged side and realised from £l4 to £2O- - sorts £ll to £l2 10s. Dairy cows on account of other vendors made £lO to £lB • 2-year-old in-calf heifers (backward) £9 10s to £lO ss, At Douglas on 28th ult, I had a full yarding of cattle, sheep also coming forward in big numbers. All classes were in keon demand practically the whole of the yarding being cleared at the hammer.
