WESTPORT HARBOR.
A "MONSTROUS INJUSTICE." By T«legrapb,—Press Association. Westport, Last Night. ' Through the operation of clauses 108 » and 109 of the Finance Act, 1919, the Westport Harbor Board, which used to be one of the wealthiest institutions of its kind in the Dominion, is having financial difficulties. The board has had to pay out of its ordinary revenue the Whole of ,the increased charges resulting from the war in the way of higher wages, extra cost of material, and so forth, but has not got one penny of increased revenue from the railway and wharves, although the profits from these were given by Act of Parliament as an endowmat to the board, and upon its endowments the board has raised something like £860)000 in loan money. The board considers that a monstrous injustice has been done to it, and it has been trying without avail to get satisfaction from Ministers. To-day a complaint was made Jthat neither letters nor telegrams to the Minister for Marine on the question were getting satisfactory attention, and it had resolved to send the chairman (Mr. See) and Mr. Mclntyre (a member of the board) to Wellington to interview Cabinet and see if the injustice could not be remored, The Government from tht source in question has made a clean lift of £50,000.
