HAWERA SOLDIERS' CLUB.
To the Editor. j Sir, —I wish to correct a statement appearing in your yesterday's issue concerning the Hawera Returned Soldiers' Association reported as made by Mr. Howell at Tuesday's meeting of your local Returned Soldiers' Association. It is correct, that Hawtra has. raised nearly £4OOO, but it is not correct that the ma-1 jor portion has been spent in the club! here and,in putting up a memorial, for] as yet Hawera has not spent one penny of the money raised. There is no necessity for Mr. Howell, therefore, to believe that the Hawera soldiers will find it necessary to launch another appeal to raise funds to maintain the club. | Thanking you if you will kindly make] this "correction in your columns, as Mr.! Howell's statement if not contradicted I may cause, misunderstandings in Hawera.—l am, etc., \ H. L. SPRATT, j President Returned Soldiers' Assoc. |
