The Chamber adopted a Bill demolishing the city fortifications and allowing the natural expansion of the city. The demolition will enable the construction of gardens, parks, and dwellings. 11. WHY FOCH SIGNED ARMISTICE. FOR HUMANITARIAN REASONS. Received March 27, 8 p.m. Paris, March 21. . Le Matin says that when the House asked Marshal Foch why he signed the armistice when he had ordered a decisive offensive within three days, Marshal Foch replied that the conditions assured complete victory, and he could not permit the unnecessary death of a single soldier.—Aus.
