ELTHAM.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Eltham, Dee. 20. Bro. ,T. Kenny has been elected A.D. for a further period of. six months of the U.A.O. of Druids. The seeretarv (Bro. Whiteford) produced a statement showing the order was making steady progress, despite many difficulties through the war, etc. The lodge funds had incfeased by nearly £l5O during the six months, and now totalled £llsl. At the conclusion of the installation of officers by Past District President Bro. Beamish (Hawera). P.D.P. Bro. Parrott. on behalf of the Llthom Lodge, thanked the visitors for attending, and referred to the loss the Order had sustained through the death' of D.P. Bro. Long-staff, who had'proved a most capable official and one possessing a thorough knowledge of Druidism. Bros. Beamish and Ure both acknowledged the remarks and the loss the Hawera lodge had sustained through the epidemic, Bro. .T. Taylor being another member who died through the epi-demic.-—A resolution was carried appreciating the work of -Dr. Cooper, the nurses, and others in fighting the epidemic.
Constable Townsend, I am glad to learn, 13 now making alow tut steady progress. The last three weeks have proved a very anxious time for his wife and .other relatives, but, now tlia corner lias been turned, all trust it will not be long before our popular guardian of the peace is able to get ibout- again. The ladies dominate the position as far as the local Oddfellows' Lodge is concerned, and the sisters have made every post a winner in pushing forward the interests of the lodge. On Wednesday evening the half-yearly meeting was held, and the brothers, evidently bearing in view the good work in other directions, filled the clifiirs for the next mm months as follows:—N.G., Sis. E SorWe; V.G., Sis. E. Stunner*; R.S, Sis. E. Waters; Warden, Sis. Collopv; Guardian, Sis. Thornhill. The installation ceremony was conducted by the District Grand Master, Bro. Roberts. Occasion was also taken of Bro. Roberts' presence to present trophies to Sisters Sorbie, Stanners, Lewis, Callopy, and Bro. Thomas, for assistance rendered during the year to the lodge. This was not the last of the good fellowship, as Miss Bates found herself the recipient of a Doultcu ware biscuit barrel as a gift from the Order in connection with her approaching wedding to Bro. Barnard. The acknowledgment of the gift was suitably made 'by Bro. G. Clement.
