GOLDEN WEDDING.

HOWELL —GILBERT. A very pleasing and enjoyable function took place, at the Hygienic Tea Rooms yesterday afternoon, the' occasion being the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. H. Howell, of New Plymouth. The honored guests, who are aged respectively 74 and 71 years, were both born in New Plymouth, and were married here on October 22, 180S, by the late Rev. Ward, the first Primitive Methodist minister in New Plymouth. Mr. Howell's father (the late Mr. S. Howell) came to the colony in the ship London, and Mrs. Howell's father (the late Mr. H. Gilbert) arrived J)V the William BryantMrs' Howell was the second daughter of the family. Both Mr- and Mrs. Howell have been for many years members of the old Primitive Methodist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Howell had three children, the only one surviving being Mrs. F. Asher.
