LEAVING WITHOUT A PERMIT. By Telegraph.—Press 'Association. Wellington, Last Night. At the Magistrate's Court, Harry Lewis, who stowed away on a steamer bound for an Australian pnrt, was fined £lO for leaving the Dominion without a permit. COMMISSION ON WAR EXPENDITURE Wellington, Last Night. The members of the Royal Commission to investigate war expenditure are: Brigadier-General Sir Rabert Anderson (Australia) chairman, Charles Rhodes (Auckland), Peter Barr (Dunedin). Sir Robert Anderson is not a soldier, but has served in the Comrnonweolfch Defence Department as a business man. SHORTAGE OP PRESBYTERIAN MINISTERS.
Auckland, Last Night. Speaking at to-night's meeting of the Auckland Presbytery, the Rev. J. W. Shaw said there were 200 Presbyterian charges in the Dominion and only 150 ministers, while the latter was likely to bo reduced as the balloting .of the Second Division proceeds, and no recruits to Hie ranks of the ministry were coming forward. He suggested that adjoining charges should 'be amalgamated where such arrangements were suitable, and a committee was appointed to report on the proposal.
