THE ADDINGTON TRAGEDY.
VMRDICT AT INQUEST. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurcn, Last Night. Th'j adjourned inquiry into the deatM of Donßld Lewis Carriclj, aged three years, who was found dead with Ms head battered early last Saturday morning, at Addington, was continued to-day. Sergeant Wohlmann, who conducted the case for the police, said that Winifred Carrick, the mother of the child, who is now on remand charged with wilful murder, had declined to attend the inquiry,' a* also had her solicitor. Evidence wa» given that the child w»s asleep in bed at 9 p.m. on Friday. The coroner returned a verdict that the cause of death was laceration of the brain, the result of Avomids inflicted by some person or persons, but there was no evidence as to who such person or persons were.
