WHY GERMANY ATTACKED I.TALY. RELENTLESS SAPPING OF GERMAN MAN POWER. BRILLIANT BRITISH STRATEGY. Received Nov. 28, 5 5 p.m. London, Nov. 27. The communique from the Allies shows that the relentless sapping of German man-power on the West front transcends the territorial Rains. Germany attacked Italy hoping to divert enough AngloKrench forces to prevent further offensives, and that continued attacks would eventually result in softening, the enemy's front lino. It characterises the British strategy at Oambrai as daringly conceived and brilliantly executed. Italy's steady resistance is intimately connected with the Camhrjii victory. Italy's morale is daily improving.
