METHODIST SYNOD.
The above Synod of the TaranakiWangamii district 'began, its sessions at Kltham yesterday morning, at 10.30 o'clock, by a ministerial committee meeting. Rev. W. A Sinclair, president of the conference, presided. Rev. E. 0. Blamires was appointed secretary to the committee, and Rev. R. 18. Tinsley assistant secretary. The president welcomed the ministers to the synod, especially congratulating Rev. H. R. Blamires on his safe return to New Zealand after spending three years on active service as chaplain to the forces, and also paid a tribute to the splendid work he had done in that capacity. ' The examination of probationers was proceeded with, and it was resolved that probationers Fordyce. Parker, and Minnifie be recommended to be passed in their year, providing their written examinations. prove satisfactory. On the motion of Rev. H. R. Blartnren i it was decided to recommend the confer[ence to ordain Rev. S. J. Wcrrcn, who, feeling the call of his country, and .having served his four years of probation, had enlisted for active service. The afternoon session was mainly devotional in character, most helpful and practical addreesea being given by ReVi. P. J. Couuia and H. L. Blamirei.
