MASSEYVS ACTION The mutter of supplier of phosphate? tu n;cet tlie demand in Xcw Zealand lias occupied the attention of the Prime Minister of the Dominion, tlie London correspondent of the Auckland Herald writes Mi. Massey has discussed tlie matter with the Board of Trade and other (Government officials. Some weeks ago, lie had a conversation with Professor YA'yndhair. Dunstan, Director of tlie Imperial Institute. The latter has advised Mr. Massey that firms manufacuring basic phosphates in Britain are unable at present to offer supplies for New Zcalani. owing to the large Home demand. In his letter to Mr. Massey, Professor Dunstan added that the firm which is working the phosphate deposits on the Red Sea ia in a position to supply considerable quantities of phosphate to Xew Zealand if tonnage could be found. Tlie company suggested that it might bo possible to arrange for cargoes of phosphate to be shipped by the steamer; which, it is understood, will be going out presently to Australia in ballast for wheat. This plar would presumably necessitate some arrangements for shipping the phosphates from Australia to Xew Zealand
