SYDNEY TREASON CASE.
SENSATIONAL EVIDENCE. . BURNING DOWN SYDNEY Australian-N.Z. Cable Association. Received Oct 12, 19 p.m. Sydney, Oct. 12.' There were sensational' developments to-day at the hearing of the treason case, which is exciting the keenest in-' terest. A chemist,, formerly a member of the 1.W.W., gave evidence to the efl'ect that shortly after the war begun lie delivered lectures in the rooms of the organisation on elementary chemis--tr v and the manufacture of explosives, when the action of phosphorous and: spontaneous combustion were discussed, members freely stating that the only way to stop conscription was to creata. rioting by breaking shop windows, and burning Sydney down. One said he knew three firemen, I.W.W. men, who would hold the water pressure back. The Chief Officer of the Fire Brigado stated it was a ouriou's fact that all the fires within the past few months had occtiTed in buildings unconnected wUh the lire brigade, all being without sprinklers or fire alarms.
