Sergeant Bowdcn, of the local polios force, is at present on annual leave, and his duties are being carried out by Constable Boulton, of Fitzroy. The Mayor (Mr. C. H. Burgess) is suffering from a severe cold and is compelled to stay at home for a day or two, but he hopes to be about again as usual at the beginning of next week. fn yesterday morning's Roll of Honor list appeared the names of Lanee-Cor* poral Stephen Langrklge (next-of-kin, L. Langridgc, Stratford), reported wounded; and Private .'ohn Morehn (Mrs. Hiurangi Morehu, ■ Waitara)* wounded and admitted to hospital. Private Noel Lewes, of Tnglewood, attached to the 52nd Field Ambulance, M.T.A.S.C, has been in the 3rd Western General Hospital, Cardiff, suffering from bronchitis and pleurisy. He is v v to go to Hereford to complete his con- / valescence, says a London correspondent. Mr Maurice Bowler, of Hood's Pharmacy, who is well-known in New Plymouth and Stratford, received telegraphic advice last evening that his services had been accepted for the New 1 Zealand Medical Ambulance Corps, and he will proceed to camp on Monday. Mrs. J. P. Luke, Mayoress of Wellington, arrived in New Plymouth by Wednesday's mail train, and had a conference with Mrs. C. H. Burgess, Mayoress of New Plymouth, with reference to Christmas cheer for the soldiers. Mrs. Luke returned to Wellington yes/ terday.
