COMPLETE CHANGE FOR TO'-NJ.GHT ONLY, A RADIANTLY COLORED DRAMA. "ASHES OF HAPPINESS." A well diversified selection of pictures coiti[rise the new programme to be presented at The Empire for to-night only. Variety has been carefully considered in each part, the result being a mosi interesting evening's entertainment free from any preponderance of dramatic or comedy films. The programme opens with an interesting edition of The Australian Gazette and the first part also includes a war topical "The Fall of Carency." The chief attraction, however, is a finely colored domestic drama "Ashes of Happiness." It shows Doctor Maitiand, a well-to-do physician, with a large practice happy in hi 3 home life and children. He succumbs to the wiles of a fascinating woman who is a patient of his" and the knowledge coming to his wife causes the inevitable divorce. The story | goes on to show how after many years of sorrow and unhappiness the estranged couple are reconciled by the chance meeting of the children. Whilst nearly approaching a delicate subject the picture is thoroughly wholesome, due to the refined handling of the story by a specially selected cast of front rank artists. Amongst the other films is a pretty scenic picture, "Waterfalls of Tivoli,' a drama by the Vitagraph players, "The f.evel,' and a powerful Lubin photoplay "The Silent Accuser." Comedy is provided ny "No Tickee—No Washee" (Vitagraph) and "Artful Artists" (Kalem). Intending patrons are notified that this selection will be shown to-night only.
