A Turkish communique states: The ■ British attack at Massirach, on the ' Euphrates, failed, and the enemy retired.. Russians in Persian are retiring to; wards Essadodaba. We drove them 1 from the Esmis defile, twenty-three 1 kilometres east,of Kankaver. and oceu- • pied the delile. We also drove them from the western liank of Lake Van ■ northwards. Eighteen warships bomf barded some places on the southern - Asiatic -joast. A few buildings were . damaged. I The British cavalry and infantry made r an attack near Katia on the oth, buf retired, after our violent counter-attacks on both wings. The enemy sustained immense losses.
