A.D.V.S., who left for the front with the Main Body, returned By the Corinthic, and was in New Plymouth on Sunday and Monday. He returns to Wellington this morning. Cabled information lias been received that Private Wilfred Clayton has been killed in France. Private Clayton enlisted from Fitzroy, and was a nephew of Mr. T. Parkin. Mr. G. Adlara (of Oakura). not. Mr. W. F. Brooking as stated by lis yester day, is the third surviving member of the old 43rds, now in Taranaki, Colonel Kllis and Mr. P. Lambert (Inglewood) being the others. In Saturday's casualty list appeared the names of Private John Smith (next-of-kin, R. Smith, Gill Street, New Plymouth, father), wounded, and admitted to hospital, and Sergeant C. B. U'cbster (W. j). Webster, New Plymouth), dangerously ill in hospital at Boulogne, | suffering from pneumonia. Veterinary Lieut.-Colonel Young, who left with the Expeditionary Force for Egypt, and lias been on active service i\j Egypt, Uallipoli an.! France, was in New Plymouth on a short visit yesterday. Lieut.-Colonel Young supervised the removal of 5000 horses from Egypt to the fighting lines ii. France. At the haul-room on Saturday evening' tuombers of the New Plymouth Association Football Chili assembled tn bid nil rcvoir to Privates J. Wiley and W. R. Arthur, members of the club., who bavo joined the reinforcements. Mr. E; Whittle presided, and during the proceedings presented each of the departing guests with a wristlet watch, wishing them Coit-speed and a safe return. A short toast list, and songs, recitations, and step-dances by a number of gentlemen, whilod away a pleasant hour ov two.
