LOAN & MERCANTILE 00.'S RETORT. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. (Stratford branch), report as follows: We held our usual monthly auction sale at our Kohuratahi yards on Thursday. May 25. "Tiere was a large attendance of local farmers, as well as several. ■Oiiiira, Eltliam and Stratford buyers. There /i-a.s a fair yarding of both cattle and sheep, most of which were sold at the hammer at full market rates. Trices were: Weaner steers 56 s, 20months empty heifers 96s to 995, 20-1 months good colored steers 138s 6d; 24months steers 120s to 148 6d, weaner heifers 44s Gd, store cows (small) SOs to 110s, forward cows 150s to 160s, 2-tooth wethers up to 255, lambs (medium quality) 14s Gd, 2-tooth ewes (small) 24s 3d. Our next Kohuratahi sale will be held on June 22. We held our usual monthly sale at our Te Wera yards 011 Friday, May 26. There was a fair yarding of cattle, but no sheep; several entries not coming forward, jio doubt owing to the wet and rough weather. The attendance was good and competition fair, all lines bei»g cleared at the following prices: Weaners (small) '23s to 30s Gd, fair quality 33s to 36s fid, weaner steers 565, store cows 110s to 113s. Our next sale at the Te Wera yards will be held on June 23. On Monday, May 29 we held our usual monthly sale at the Tarata yards. The weather was exceptionally wet and rough, but notwithstanding this there was. a good yarding and a big attend ance from all parts of the district, and almost a total clearance was effected! Prices: In-calf heifers 75s for small to 130s for medium, fair 135s to 150s, dairy caws 150s to 170s for fair quality to 185s and 215s for good lines, fat and forward cows (small) 141s to 1555, good 160s to 181s, small store cows 88s to 90s, weaners 26s to 43 6d. At the same time we sold, on account of Mrs. F. M. Brightwell, the whole of her stock without reserve, most of which showed quality and was keenly competed for, more particularly the sheep, at the following prices: Mixed aged ewes 23s 9d, cull ewes'Bs 6d, woolly lambs 17s lid, 15months heifers 555, yearling heifers 3Ss, yearling steers 51s to 68s. The dairy cows were small, compact, and mostly young animals, showing fair quality, and ranged from 150s to 2255, making an average of £9. We also sold several horses, milk carts and implements on account of clients, which were sold at full values. Our next sale at the Tarata yards will be held 011 June 30. On Tuesday, May 30, we held our usual fortnightly sale at our Stratford yards. The yarding was moderate, but all lines, both sheep and cattle, were keenly competed for. Dairy lines were dull of sale. Lambs, small, poor condition, 14s 3d, weedy lambs lis, mixed weaners 31s, in-calf heifers IGOs, 2% to 3-year steers 141s to 157s 6d, mediumsized animals 160s to 1755, fat cows 183s 'o 2045. Our next sale at these yards will be held on June 13. Since wo last reported we have placed a large quantity of stock in the paddock at the following prices: Dairy cows £8 5s to £lO, in-calf heifers £0 to £lO 10s, IS-months 'heifers £3 10s to £3 15s, forward ewes 235, ewes in lamb 22s Gd to 25s 6d, lambs lis 6d to 17s fid, wethers 24s to 2os.
