GERMAN INTERNMENT CAMPS. A WELL-CONCERTED CONSPIRACY. Sydney, June 2. An open- verdict was given at the inquest on Portman, who died as the result of injuries received at the German . ..internment camp. The coroner said the i evidence showed that deceased was a member of a Black Hand secret society, composed of the worst characters in the 1 camp, who terrified and {blackmailed rich and influential but physically weak fel-low-Germans. The want of evidence to show who struck iPortman was due to , a well-concerted conspiracy. Witnesses' ighorance was due to fear of the consequences of making revelations. The coroner supported the suggestion th&t the-worst class of prisoners should •be deported after the war. ' A NEW LOAN. Sydney, June 2. The prospectus for the third war loan hap been published. The conditions are the sitae as for previous loans, but the amount is unlimited, and the currency i» till 1926. Applications close on August 2. ■
