INGLEWOOD.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) I understand that the Fanners' Organisation Society has bought a valuable site in the centre of the 'borough, and intend erecting a commodious store thereon. The ladies' co'mmittee of the Red Cross have a social advertised for Friday evening. Progressive euchre is to be played in the supper-room and dancing will take place in the -hall proper. The proceeds are to' be devoted to general patriotic purposes. The following, copied from the N.Z. Times of recent date, will probaibly be of local interest: —"The Mayoress, Mrs. J. IP. Luke, has received from the secretary of the Ladies' Patriotic League of Inglewood £ls, for the Red Cross fund. This consists of receipts from the Red Cross shop, Red Cross tea, and a croquet tournament and sale of flowers, and is a creditable sum to be raised in one month by a small community like Inglewood. Tile 'League has also a case of clothing ready to be sent to Wellington. Last month the Inglewood ladies sent £7 lis 7d to Mrs. Luke for the Dominion parcels fund, and since October last they have sent £134 lis to the Minister of Internal Affairs for Red Cross work, and £6 Is 9d to Auckland for the French Red Cross fund." Mrs. J. W. Winfield has been elected chairman of the ladies' committee, vice Mrs. iSutlierland, who lias left the district.

The Red Cross Committee begs to acknowledge receipt of 24s from six patriotic jurymen of Ratapiko.
