TARANAKI WINTER SHOW.
This big fixture is now being the chief topic of conversation both in town and country, anil, from present indications, it will be one of the greatest exhibitions ever seen in this district. Applications for space are being made from outside firms by every mail; nor are the local tradespeople backward in this respect, as they will occupy a fair proportion of the thousands of feet that are offered. Great interest is being taken in the many competition classes, ami scores of schedules are being posted to different parts of New Zealand every day. Entries for all classes are already being received, although the time for closing is not until Saturday, 27th inst. This should be a good indication of good exhibits in every class. Intending exhibitors in the home industry classes are requested to note that the Gas Company's special in class 193, whic-'h reads "Collection Fancy Cakes and Pastry," should read "Collection of Fancy Cakes," excluding th'd pastry, as it is not intended to ■have pastry in this class. . There are some splendid trophies offered for competition this year, including a new challenge cup donated by Mr. 0. J. Herrick as a points prize in the honey section. Where will be several raffles by permission of the Minister of Internal Affairs. and in this way the Society intends to dispose of four gold nuggets, valued at £ l.i, £5, £3 and £2, and also two hand-painted cushions. Schedules may be had on application to the secretary, box 19, New Plymouth.
