The Panama Canal authorities officially announced from Colpn on Marcli 16 that, provided nothing unforeseen happened, the Panama Canal would be reopened on April 15 to vessels with a maximum draught of 30ft, subject to probable temporary delay thereafter to enable dredges to complete width and depth. Henceforth the well-known C. and D. liner Indrabarah, which had such a narrow escape from becoming a wreck on the Rangitikei beach some time since, will be known as the Port Elliot. This change of name is involved by the decision of the C. and D. directors to rename several of their boats.
